I have EFI Live right now just for my EGR delete and i'm thinking about getting a DSP5 switch and ordering tunes from EPR. Is it worth doing this on my truck (see signature) and if so what kind of tunes should i look at getting?

I was thinking #1 - Stock
#2 - Fuel Economy
#3 - Light Tow
#4 - Heavy Tow
#5 - Valet

What do you guys think?

Oh and this is my farm truck and daily driver. When i tow, it is either an 18 ft car trailer with a 300 gallon diesel tank or a 30 ft gooseneck with skidsteer and a couple buckets and pallet forks.

I had...

1. Anti-Theft
2. Tow w/turbo brake
3. 90hp DD
4. 110hp
5. 150hp

From Idaho Rob at ATP Trucks when I ran stock trans tunes. Never limped it or had any problems.

That would be awesome. What kind of mileage are you seeing on your economy tune? What kind of horsepower are you running on the performance and tow tunes?

It's one I built for a friend as he has an LBZ, I have an LB7 in my BURB. He said he went from 18-18.5 at 65 mixed driving up to 21 with it. The performance tune is a solid 90HP one, and the tow tunes are only about 40-50HP(very stock trans safe tuning). PM me your Email address and I will send it out to you to try out, or I have it posted over at the truckstop.us.

I run single level on my LBZ and I'm not missing anything by not having a switch.

P.S. There is no such thing as stock with DSP. You canbe near stock, but not completely stock.

Even if your base tune is a stock tune? I guess you would have to change limiting tables if your other tunes would be restricted by them. But that shouldnt effect anything in the base tune performance wise should it?

By upping the required limiters, it does give it a tad more on the base file.

Well i got my switch installed and i'm gonna load the tune i got from THEFERMANATOR tomorrow and give it a try. I'll have to take it easy until i get my Transgo Jr. installed after seeding is done. I just hope i wired the switch right.

You should be fine on all levels except 3 with the tune I sent you(1=stock, 2=econ, 3= performance, 4=tow, 5= tow with turbo brake). You can load in the tune and then open up the scan tool and check the PID for DSP5 and see if it is switching correctly or not. If your switch is working you will tell right away as 2 has the rumble idle, and 3 is pretty strong compared to the others(still only about a 90-100HP tune though).
