I cant figure out whats up, trucks running great, no hard radiator hoses, no funny smells, never even knew anything was wrong until the low coolant light came on. What is there left to investigate?

Turbo, oil level, burning it? Maybe just been awhile since any was added. Get it hot maybe and puked some out? Just a thought or two.

X2. You could have a small leak somewhere that isnt bad enough to smell or anything. If you're really worred you can do a compression test to rule out te big stuff to make you feel better :D

Oil level was a quart low, did some more looking around today and there was oil leaking out of the EGR where I blocked it and up front at what must be the egr solenoid? Why would oil be leaking there? its all over the passenger side valve cover so that must be where my oil went, opened up the oil fill tube, no excessive blow-by. Upper radiator hose doesnt get hard from a cold start, but after running it down the road awhile it gets really hard, but the tempature never seems to climb above 180*, it just seems like an excessive amount of pressure in the coolant system. Dont really have any tools to tear anything apart or diagnose anything right now, since there all a few hour away at my parents house, Still plan on taking it to GM monday morning to have them look at it, Its jsut really bothering me and I'd really like to know what Im getting into before I take it there. The truck has never been an overheater or yet alone even approached the 215* mark.

That's probably dirty coolant leaking out of your EGR. The EGR has no oil supply just coolant. Check the hoses going to the EGR but I'd delete the whe thing. Your egr is probably the cause if the hoses are fine. If you need a good egr I have one you can have for shipping. Let me know

What Reno said. If the egr cooler is leaking, the coolant will mix in with soot and look just like nasty black engine oil.

Ok I had enough handtools in my truck to pull off the cold side inlet and everything is just caked in soot and what I imagine to be coolant? So if the EGR cooler fails it just leaks coolant right into the engine? Thats a pretty poor design, gotta hate all this emissons crap. All the hoses look good into and out of the EGR cooler, but there a little puddle in one of the ports from the EGR to the cold side, so it must be leaking in there, I cant beleive how caked up with sludge it is there, i've got some pics to post up later, but they aint pretty.

I wouldnt run the truck that way. Definately remedy the problem before you drive that beast. Coolant leaks are no bueno

I think I nailed the problem, now just to decide whether I just order a delete kit, or have GM fix it under warranty, and then trade it in, I've been putting off deciding whether or not to keep or trade it in on a new D/A, but I guess I've got some serious thinking to do by monday now. Thanks for all the help guys.
