DRW to SRW conversion

Anyone familiar with the process? I've thought about it for the longest time and the wife is insistent that a lifted dually will look ridiculous. Besides the obvious of bedsides and wheels, what else is different that would affect the conversion? I'm not in a position to take stuff apart right now(unfortunately) but I'd guess the front hubs and maybe the drums. Just not too sure, so if anyone may have a link to the process or just the details, it would be appreciated.

I personally have always liked lifted duallys. With the right wheel and tire combo they look sweet.
But if you need to keep the misses happy I would go on ahead and just to all the work at once

That simple? Even the filler neck matches? I always imagined that it would be harder than that. The other thing for me is both of my bedsides need to be replaced, they have chips in the wheelwells from rocks out of my A/Ts and the bedsides in the back are chipped from my down tailgate bouncing off the hinges and banging back and forth :(

ben you sure on the rear axle? i know the cab chassis axle is narrower but i also though the dually axle is a couple inches wider. been slowly making my truck a dually ;)

theres a few threads at the place about all the differences between the drw and srw. i've been chased out of the 3500 dually area over there once or twice. might be safe for you to look around tho.

i'm feeling dually with quadrasteer flares.... need some mock up wheels and tires though

already have a couple ideas in the works ;) stock rear axle front spacers 19.5's and quadrasteer flares

NODMAX (Eric) did this swap a few years ago on his silver GMC. God, was that a beautiful truck.
IIRC, he swapped the bed and added 2" spacers to the front because the DRW rear axle is 4" wider than SRW.

Look at it this way. what is your truck worth? whats a comparible SRW cost? whats it gonna cost to do it right (Rear, bed, wheels and tires,brakes,paint)? plus whats the differance in price to register?

Im sure you could trade rear-ends with a SRW guy too, If you didnt care for the wider rear axle. I'd love to find somone near me to trade so I could have a truck that looks like it has the right rear end under it.

looking for mockup wheels to see how close i'll come to hitting the springs with the inners. the idea of using the narrower axle is the use the flares and not stick out as much on "restricted" highways that do not allow commercial vehicles and duallys. when i find something to use i'll let you guys know
