Is there any difference between the 2wd and the 4wd carrier bearings? I can only seem to locate one for a 2wd and don't wanna spend the 165 dollars at the stealership. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this isn't the right place for this question.

Where in that schematic does it show a driveshaft carrier bearing. Correct me if i'm wrong but he is referring to the Bearing that goes between the two piece steel driveshafts.

Carrier bearings hold the carrier in the pumpkin in the diff as I posted.
A center drive shaft bearing is called a center support bearing or some people call it a hanger bearing it is not called a carrier bearing.

Those are pics of a two wheel drive driveshaft CARRIER BEARING there's a million names for everything google carrier bearing and atleast half the hits on the first page are for Drive shaft carrier bearings. But thats besides the point.

When I read his post he stated Carrier Bearings not carrier bearing meaning to me as I read it more than one bearing. The driveshaft on his and your truck only has the one bearing not 2 or more on the driveshaft so I took that fact that he was talking about the carrier bearings in the Diff.I was only trying to help the member out.

Hey guys,

Don't mean to thread hijack (as it appears the issue is resolved), but I have a question.

In that second picture, there is a pressed-in collar that the dust boot clamps to. My collar has come loose and rattles around while driving.

It's annoying the crap out of me. What do you all recommend? Pull the shaft, press the collar in, and clamp the boot back on? Yank it out?

Thanks!
