Help: Driver side door handle broken

Ok, pin that slides into the inside of the door latch broke the other day, so now I can't open it from the inside nor the outside. My question is, how can I get the door opened up so I can take the door card out to replace the latch assembly? Kind of torn on how to do this. Is there a simple way to get the door opened up without the handles working? Thanks guys..sick of using the passenger side to exit the truck..

make larshel fix it! seems strange 2 weeks after it was painted your doors messed up no? If he removed the door handle like he should of with a full paint job then he could have damaged it.

Oh it all started because of that.. He took all the handles off obviously and. It broke before this time a week ago, because he didn't put the pin back in fully and it messed the bracket up. So I rigged it to be temporary but it's now fubared. I just want to know how to open the door my self right now. Lol

There should be enough room to pull the door panel off and manually unlatch it. Just gonna be a pain.

Is the handle on the outside broke also?

Yeah it just moves loosely. I know it has to be the pin inside the door.

The inside and outside door handles operate on separate rods...if both are not working I think you may have a different problem....maybe the door latch itself is broken?

edit, nevermind, that's what you already said in the first post.

I ended up taking a punch and breaking the center out of the handle on the outside. Then got the handle off by reaching inside the door and unbolting it. Couldn't get the door card off while door was closed. Tried and tried.got it away from the door but not far enough. What a pita!

Which handle did you break out? I've got a rear driver's side handle with no key hole, you can have it if you pay for shipping.

It was the drivers door(front left). Thanks but got the new handle all in now. :thumb:

Wonder if I could do this mod on the van. Every other van I've had has the child proof lock switch on all the cargo doors. For some reason this 2012 has it on the side doors, but not the back. Very problematic.
