I tried installing this earlier this afternoon and had no luck. The problem I ran into was I can not get the dip stick to go between the fuel lines and the trans. There just isn't that much room and the firewall is the biggest obstacle it seems. Does anyone have any tips on installing this while the motor and trans are still in the truck?

Thanks,
Daniel

i unbolted the brackets for my fuel lines and it slid right in, then bolted the brackets back in place, took them all off though from the valve cover to the trans

Oh well I was on the right track then, I took the brackets off that were around the trans, but couldn't get it to move enough. So I need to take them off all the way up the motor too?

I unbolted the brackets on the trans, also unclipped them from plastic mount where they run over to the frame rail. I could only get one of the mounts on the dipstick bolted up until I did pulled the downpipe. Took me about an hour by myself.

I unbolted the fuel lines from the tranny, took off oil filter, dropped front of driveshaft, and had to bend the mounting tabs to get dipstick in place. Once tube was seated in tranny, I bent the tabs back to bolt dipstick to bellhousing. I still have a little trouble pulling dipstick out of tube. If anyone has a picture of where their dipstick sits after install it would be appreciated. Mine sits between turbo shield and GPC module/bracket. Just had shoulder surgery and will post a pic of mine as soon as I feel up to going outside.

I forget where it sat when I put it in, I had to unbolt it & bent out of the way to get the down pipe out.
So ya somewhere between the turbo & GP controller

Unbolt the fuel line bracket. Watch the trans speed sensor wiring. Wear old clothes and have a catch pan handy, as fluid will gush out when you pull that plug. Bellhousing bracket isnt the best fit, you'll have to bend the tabs around to get them aligned correctly.

Mine comes up between turbo and glowplug controller.

I didn't have any fluid come out when I did mine, I checked it before I did it & the level was in range for it being cold.

Well, I have to admit my trans had a board holding it up in the truck because the motor was out, so your results may vary.
