Actually two issues... First is the noise that came up/back today. I can't tell where it's coming from, but I'm sure to a fair degree it's coming from sonewhere in the transfer case or behind it (besides the fact that if the trans was making that kind of noise, I suspect it would be throwing codes galore, and maybe not even working at all) because I put the rear end up on jack stands, put the transmission in park and the transfer case in Neutral, and I could hear the same kind of noise a little (obviously not as much as when the driveshaft is turning at 200+ RPM's). It's a clicking or ticking type noise. All the U-Joints feel tight, and it sounds like it MIGHT be coming from the carrier bearing area, but the carrier bearing was replaced back in Feb or so. I also noticed while I was trying to find the noise with the rear wheels off the ground and the truck idling in drive was one of the rear wheels seems to randomly bind up, put a shock on the driveline and then start turning again.

Any thoughts?

Yep... After I posted, mu PC got stupid and stopped working, so I said SCREW IT! Pulled the shaft and the first U-Joint was toast. Flexed nice and normal one way, the other way? Not so much. So that's what I was doing for the last hour or so. Fortunatley, I had a new spicer on hand. I wonder if that was the "Tink tink tink" noise I heard weeks ago that I couldn't find and just dissapeared?

The lesson for today? Just becasue a U-Joint doesn't have any play doesn't mean it isn't bad!
