Drive pressure a little high.

Im running a Stock LLY charger with a BW in it (63.5mm) and the Standard exhaust work from Danville. When I hammer on it in any tune but number 1 my drive pressure gauge jumps up pretty fast, in fact when Im in my big tune Im running 75psi of drive and 35-37 of boost. I know this is pretty high and not good on my stock bottom end. I was wandering what everyoens thoughts were on removing the VGT and switching to say an S463. With the S463 I can still pull in 2.5 legally and the larger exhaust turbine will hopefully lower my drive pressure. At the same time whar are the chances this charger will finish off my stock rods, or will the lower drive pressure help them live a little longer.

Your losing quite a bit of power like that. Lower DP will let everything work better and live longer.

The tuning has been done by Mark Broviak. In the sled pull tune its making 692/1252 in the higher RPMs ofcourse. Im hoping to keep my power close to that, and just get the drive pressure down, letting her breath a little easier.

692 on a stock charger!?!? Wowww

its not a completely stock unit.

OP, you really need to upgrade the charger. The s463 (you might be able to slip by with the s464 depending on the size plug your tech uses to check the bore) will make your truck a different animal. The larger exhaust side of the turbo will let you drive it much harder.

With no changes in tuning i'd be willing to bet you pick up 50-75rwhp and drop drive pressure much closer to 1:1

I'm sure Ryan would be thrilled to gain more power, but he is still on the stock bottom end. The tuning could be dialed back a little if needed. :woott:

I would be happy to already have the capability on hand when I build my bottom end that is for sure. Im really just wanting to maintain the same level of power, and even lose a little, but mainly help her live as close to one more season as I can get. She doesnt see the big tune much more then a couple hundred feet at a time (if I am lucky) lol.

Ditch that drive pressure monster and get into an s400. If anything just have the tuning mellowed out a little bit if need be.

High EGT and DP seem to be a common theme with these modified stockers. Glad I stayed away and went with the S464 a couple years back!!
