Drive Line Vibrations...found the fix

Well I finally got tired of the "shutter" of the line and going through the carrier bearing every 10-15,000 miles.

On the advice of some great guys at the efi class in Corona last week I looked up Orange County Drivelines, which is just down the street from PPE.

Spoke to a great guy there, Ray. Ray said he had seen this issue before and knew what needed to be done. I dropped it off and had it back 5 hours later.

WOW...what a difference. I like driving my truck again. Runs so smooth. I can't wait to get the 5er hooked up, I have never been able to give it any gas in first because the "shutter" was so pronounced. I used to take like 1/4-1/2 depending on grade to get up to speed because the "shutter" was so bad, my buddy's hated following me.

Ray fabbed up a bracked to drop the carrier so the angles were a little straighter. He also installed a new carrier. Top notch work.

Now the best part. The price...let me say its low. He fabbed the bracket, balanced the shaft, and installed a new carrier for less than I paid for the last carrier from the dealer at cost.

So if you are interested in fixing that vibration check them out.

Also had a diamond eye exhaust, bought from Alligator Performance at a great price, installed at the same time. The shop that did it was the Muffler Guy, right next to Orange County Drivline. Josh there hooked me up. Not only did he install it, he adjusted some of the hanging brackets, which required cutting and rewelding the mounts, and welded the pipes after he fitted them. I didn't expect that, I though he would just bolt them up. Welds looked real good and there are no leaks. Well worth the money. I was worried that the exhaust would be too loud so I put the muffler in, its just bolted up so I can remove it and Josh said he would weld if for me once I decide how I want it. Well with the muffler its just about right. I have no drone at any speed and its pretty quiet until you get into it. Now it doesn't have the "whistle" sound like the LLY/LBZ's its more of the gasser sound. I'm getting used to it, put I would rather have the "whistle."

If you have any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them. I'm not selling anything just trying to help out other members with my experience in case they are in the same boat.

Not sure if this is allowed so if not mods please remove just let me know.

You must have the two-piece driveshaft? Those support bearings arent exactly the best design.

Glad to hear you got it all fixed up. Its pretty cool when you find a shop that helps you out like that.

Glad to hear you got that sorted out! I was amazed looking at your DS Support after class last weekend. I've had the same one in my truck for 60k miles! First thing I did when I got home was get out the flashlight and check mine out too.

When you get a chance, you should look in to some traction bars too IMO. They made a pretty big difference for me, even though my issues weren't as severe as yours.

I'll get pics this weekend. It was a very simple design and some other kits may come with it. This one was made for my truck so I think it will be better than an off the shelf bracket. I think many people could make it themselves its not to complicated, just making sure the angle is correct while building that would be the hard part.

And did I tell you how much fun it is to drive my truck again!!!!!!:D:D:D

I'd like to see some pics as well. My dad's truck has the same problem.

Thanks I'll keep them in mind.

But, I have to go down to fullerton anyway so I though I'd kill 2 birds with one stone.
