Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Got my M and Hs mounted up, went to throw them into the back of the truck...and something didn't look right.

All of the tread is the exact same, only thing different is there is a 3/4"-1" section missing on one of em.

Tire stampings are all the same. Just one tire is narrower than the others.

Sent M and H an email and called Summit Racing. Hopefully get it lined out tomorrow and new one on its way to me.

Always something.

Pics show each tire.....then the side by side....the one on the left is the weight reduced one lol.

In other words, you got a mis-marked tire? I don't think they can leave out a section if my understanding of how a tire is made is correct.

I understand that..

John always checks the tires to make sure you have macthing sets, He'll even do a roll out on them to make sure you have all of them the same height. :thumb:

Summit does not do this...

You got one of the older style and the other the new style. The newer style radials have a wider slick in the middle. The older style have the narrow slick in the middle. They probably didn't even notice but I would try to get another new one from them.

Yeah that is definitely obvious now lol. Just thought it was very strange.

Would almost think with adding the strip, that it would change the tire size??

But thanks for the info, makes a bit more sense now.

John called me and left a message. Apparently the sinle seam was a 8.5" wide tire, the new 2 seam is 9.5". He hadn't seen one sold in 2-2.5 yrs lol.

Summit made it good. Mailing me a new one, and scheduling a pickup for the old next week sometime. Didn't cost me a dime.

looking at the serial number on the side, this tire was made in 2008 and the good ones were made in 2011

nice to see businesses still taking care of customers. I figured I'd have to pay for a new one and get reimbursed later.

LOL idk...they are supposed to call me on Monday and set up a pickup for the other one. I'll ask them then.

Don't need or want another tire junking up my already junked up garage.
