I am currently running nitto 420 275/60R17 on my reg cab. Decent all around tire but they seem to be not enough. I can cut mid 1.7 60fts with them with great track prep. Just seems like they dont have enough foot print with the bite. I do drive the truck a little on the street when its nice out. But anyway I am wanting a little more aggresive wheel/tire set up.
So far I think I like the bmf 18x9 wheels with the nitto 555 drag radials. But seem like that is a small tire. Around 28 inches tall. My current set up is 29.8ish. Witch seems way small. I like the new hoosiers but they are not street legal.

So what do you guys suggest for a light wheel tire set up? Also what offset?

Toyo has a proxes 285/60/17 be a little better than what you got maybe being a little wider. That's what i run. No good 60 ft times yet with them to share.

I just sold my previous setup that was 18 x 9 racelines with some Nitto NT05Rs. Weighed in around 58--60 pounds each . Thing is the tires were only 28.875 tall I believe . I went to another raceline wheel 18 x 9 Assaults that weighed in at 28#s and Hooiser Drag Radials 325/45/18 that weighed in at 30#s for a total of 58#s not bad for a 30.25" tall tire . Mine sees weekend street use and occasional heads up racing. No Bracket racing for me . I know they aren't street legal but I said the hell with it . I'll pay the ticket if I get one . Other than the Hooisers there isn't much on the market in the order of 30" tall in a street legal drag radial .

You, me and a ton more diesel enthusiasts wish the same . You would think that someone like Mickey Thompson would make a 30-31" tall Drag Radial for 17" or 18" wheels . For now I'm stocked about the Hoosiers. Just have to find time to put the new to me billet trans in along with the new Goerend LL 3000--3200 stall converter in so I can see how they do and to see what the converter will actually brake stall to . Then I'm having Danville tune both ECM and TCM for my new triples setup . It should scream !!

Basically a slick with small square blackouts to see how much rubber is left and a thicker sidewall than a slick . Load rating is better than the Nitto NT05Rs .
