I've always enjoyed following it, they could change some things for sure, but it's a decent event. I'd also be curious to see who registered.

I dont think its a waste at all. I learned a lot there. I learned a lot getting there. Is the event portrayed as a gimmick?...yes...but it's really not. At least not this year. I cant say enough good things about my competitors, and about the magazine crew. I had a blast

ditto. :roflmao:

X3. They portray the competition to be about and feature trucks used everyday, for everyday things. Pretty sure guys hauling backhoes and skid steers to work everyday don't carry spare 5k dollar transmissions in the bed in case they blow one up while drag racing between red lights on the way to the job site. Competitive trucks for competitive purposes have sled pulling associations and drag racing organizations to put the best against the best. The magazine and their politics are more and more transparent every issue.

I will add that I do follow the results/progress of the competition every year. Kinda like watching Jersey shore with my wife after the little one goes to bed....something I get sucked into every time.

Was also gay the drama on this board that ensued after last years competition.

I just flat out don't understand how competitors are not seeing through the BS that magazine could easily put up a 10,000$ purse 5k to first place and pay the next 4 spots. No records are ever broken.... Track prep is shit. Who in the hell cares about how fast your truck can pull a tractor in an 1/8 mile? I just don't see how driving 1,000-2,500 miles, paying your crews way, and competing for a spot in a magazine for an event that isn't very well respected. People like dmitri that live for this stuff see it as the end all be all thing to be involved in not your every day Joe

But this years trucks actually were perfectly capable of completing those tasks...you laugh and mock, but you really have no idea until you are there. Especially in Denver.

While it would be much appreciated for the magazine to cover travel expenses, what the competitors get out of it, if they wish, isn't too shabby either when a little initiative is taken

I guess ill never understand driving all.of those miles, spending all that money and then risking a 20,000$ engine all for a dipshit magazine to be able to cover and publish your carnage for their tremendous profit. They could easily give each competitor 2,000$ and pay in prize money without hurting their profit margin too much.

I too think their should be Prize $$ to at least to the winner, or top three, then hows about a $500 fuel card to the winner of each cingular event? Something along these lines would make it alot better for the competitor...

I agree...competitors have everything to loose and not much to gain that's for sure. Keep your tires and fuel additive thanks. They also miss a week of work which will mean loss of income.

And I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun either. I'm sure it would be a blast to compete or crew. About the ONLY thing they've got right is having it in Denver. Elevation is a bitch and will humble you pretty damn quick.

I think in Denver is awesome, show how hard it is to make good power and spool turbos at elevation. Especially on fuel, welcome to my world. Haha
