I guess this is as good a place as any to discuss all the work on this truck.

Do not hook up the fuel lines backwards at the filter. it will run, and even run decent but is a pain in the ass to start. I though I had a system down of removing the hose's one from the ficm and the other from the filter housing so as not to get them backwards-wrong. I though for 2 days I hooked up the fass wrong or had a leak.

Do not use the muffler (even if the owner is pushing to get his truck back) in the Magnaflow 5" exhaust kit. Its like putting a cork in your truck. Exhaust temps went way up, blew out driverside header gasket and even made us question why we did twins. pull the cork out and damn, this thing is very scary, even on #3 of the DSP5. Won't let him use 4 or 5 till I get it back to finish it.

Do take lots of pics if your not going back together with it within a month or so. Them fuel lines get a little confusing as stated above.

Do ask lots of questions, i am sure Pat, Kat, Guy, Trent, Mike L, and Larry Jewell have my number memorized and hit ignore when I call. I usually don't have any tech to add or write because my father won't let me work on Diesels in our shop on a daily basis. All I have learned has been on this site or calling and asking questions-alot of questions-till I was satisfied I could do what I needed.

Save all of the old header,up-pipe gaskets for future use on the side of the road when they blow out. Keep an 8mm allen head socket with wobble and extension in your tool box.

Do use the rear main installation tool!!

When avaible always go with Twins. They are easy to install, make a ton of horsepower and are just fun as hell to drive.

I am sure to add more as I remember but i think this is enough for now.
Any questions on the stroker build, twins install or titan tank, fass 260 I can now answer I think with remote confidence:rofl:

On the inside it goes from 5" down to 3"-3.5". He removed it saturday and drove it sunday and sent me a text with lots of words like "holy s@#$, and oh my God, and others. He said we uncoarked the beast. Now this is with the twins-Gt42 mag and the GT55 so it needs to move alot of air and aparently we weren't doing so well:D. i was up till 3 am trying to make it driveable so he could use it and didn't have time to install the straight pipe I had so I just threw on the muffler-I guess it works-it muffeled-badly according to him and he has been driving it over a week with it in place. Exhaust temps were over 1350 with a small enclosed trailer w/2 harleys in it on small hills. It has never run over 1100 before except when racing or playing.

Great to know! That will be coming off in that case. What a POS

keep in mind that you will not be noticing as much of an improvement on your truck as they did.

They are flowing close to double what a normal truck does. The amount of improvement will directly correlate to the amount of flow that is being restricted.

x2. We are pushing alot of air. Just something I learned with this setup. Needs lots of space to breathe.

Larry, Alldata DIY is an invaluable tool for rebuilding when there is a delay. Helped me a ton.

Very true. I have had alot of help over the past 2 years from everybody here. The gm tech section was very valuable to me. Also all of you who have "been there done that" were a huge help. I remember one of the first help suggestions i got was when we were reassembling the stroker and someone pointed out I had the cam and crank sensors backwards:eek:.
I am going to use this thread to post my past and current trials and failures and accomplishments.
I could not have done any of this without you guys. He called me sunday just to say thank you for giving him the diesel he has wanted for the past 6 years so I am extending that gratitude to the people of this site. I always read alot more then I post. When I can't find what I need all I have to do is ask and everyone jumps in to offer help. Its like an extended family to me. I don't own one and maybe never will due to finance restrictions but I love to build them and will jump at the chance to build another one.
Thanks again, Larry "The Stroker".
ps I love that name:D

hey Larry, you want to add my truck to the trial and error tests, i'm leaving for my pre-divorce elk hunt thursday, if you want me to drop my truck off give me a hollar, i gots an oil leak, might be a rear main, but probably just the turbo oil fitting leaking and ending up on the bell housing. If you can get trent to send us the new vvt waste gate, that would be a cool project to test too as well as the core injectors sitting in my office.......could send them out to become 40 overs :)....I aint got nobody to tell me no, unless i find me a cute cow elk up on the mountain :joey:

So whens he taking it to the track? Hope it doesnt take him as long as its taken Larry

Not sure. He needed it to do some pumping out of instead of the escalade so not sure when I get it back-had it for 10 months-really need it back so I can do some logs for Trent so we can fine tune it and all. But so far he is happy-said its scary and his wife said she wants one now so we must have done something right:happy2:
Still need to finish up alot of little things on it cosmetically, seats don't match, still have rear sub box and amp to install, tune the stereo system, steering shock and cognito braces are still not on, getting ready to send off his stock trans for Mike L to build before he blows up the SCV. Just a bunch of little stuff I am very anal about getting done to make it as perfect as I can in my mind.
