Has anyone done this. I was thinking abou this today and wondered if anyone has done this. I doubt it would save much weight but mine aren't adjusted properly so it doesn't work anyways. Just thinking of something i could do to cut down alittle drag and save a couple pounds lol

Yes the cable runs down the driver side frame rail. Yes you can replace the pads and cables. The pads are inside the rear rotors and are called a mexican hat style brake setup. I don't know why it would hurt anything but its been awhile since i had the rear rotors off to look. I don't see why it wouldn't. I have never had someone check to see if the E brake worked in my truck. Pulling or drag racing. Would it pass a federal DOT inspection????UMMMM NO lol.

I've thought of ripping mine off too, I am tired of adjusting it constantly. But I go enough places with steep hills that just the park pawl in the transmission won't cut it. I keep thinking of getting a driveline brake, but they are expensive.

I drive my truck less than 200 miles a year and live were everything is flat....So not really needed. Plus like said above its backed off so it doesn't really work anyways

Yeah, I hear you. I usually let it get completely out of adjustment, then re-adjust before going to the mountains. If you never hit the hills, then it serves no purpose. I wish GM had a better design for it. Most of the honda cars I've worked on use a hybrid hydraulic mechanical e-brake that works amazing. Uses your regular disc brakes. It could be done with the trucks, but no one seems to do it. I wonder if there is a patent issue?

I got a buddy who went to replace all the ebrake pads and stuff on his 03 dmax and was havin a hard time gettin it back together so he left it all out. The cable still runs to the back but nothin inside. Never had a problem with it.

I deleted all the e-brake stuff on the race truck when i did the 4-link , i just removed the cable and all the frame brackets associated with it , but left the pads in place and its been fine for 2 years .
