Does installing cross bolts chage the tone?

I was getting ready to install a new exhaust and was going to put in the 3/8" cross bolts for any chance I might get to pull in the future. But I was concerned it might make a nasty sound.

I was going to put them right after the bend in the front pipe before it steps from 4" to 5" on the MF kit. Straight piped of course.

I have mine before the bend, and it sounds fine. Answering your question... It's not going to affect the sound. Sounds like you're running the same exhaust as I am.

I have bolts in mine right behind the flange just before the bend. I think my truck sounds good.

They say as close as possible, or something to that effect. It would be pretty impossible to put cross bolts in the stock downpipe, and I wasn't about to pull it out to try. Since I did it in the front pipe, I didn't want to put them in my new downpipe when I swapped it. I guess you could tell them they are in the down pipe and see if they want to look for them...

You can always weld bolt heads to the down pipe to make it look like there are bolts in there. With anything other than a hood stack, the turbine isn't going to make it out

Not true dozer, seen a 6.0 that the turbine made it out of the tail pipe
