my g80 is going out. i dont have the cash to buy grizzly or a locker so i figured this would be a better fix till winter since i still want to sled pull..

so who has run this setup in our rear ends and how is it?> i can get one for a great price for now. i dont want mine to grenade and make thigs worse.

will the gears bolt right up as well. the dodge posi has n o gears on it

It depends, there is a carrier break on the gear sets. 4.10 and numberically higher and 3.73 and down. If you get a rebuild kit and put a extra clutch and plate in them it will be almost like a full spool. It might get you through till winter

I have one it's a dodge\gm part number bolted right in my 01. Love it. It opens up in the rain frequently under hard accelerating. Never drove with it in the snow. Posies on Launches everytime. It opens only in the rain and on a hard corner while accelerating - which can be a nice safety feature. Quite, and not sloppy at all like my brothers yukon, keep in mind were both zf trucks with in spec backlash. And I got it for 650 with bearings pressed on. It has worm gears inside the carrier that act as spiders but with a better bias to spin both, keeping in mind it is still natured as an open different and will open up in certain conditions. I don't think I'd have paid extra for the full locker after driving my brothers truck, in my application. I dont go offroad or anything. I can honestly say at least with a zf truck I'd take my aam posi over his grizzly all over again.

I don't drive my truck in winter, mainly DD for my wife and then I pull for fun on weekends.. Sounds gd enough fot me till I get more cash this winter.. I just don't want my g80 taking out my gears.. I have 373s so they should bolt right up

My g 80 went out but didn't grenade. Started popping I limped it home and I stripped some teeth off of the counterweight ring gear deal that engages the locker. Had just been doing 3rd gear launches. I don't know that I would switch if it's just a dd. I'm glad I was tight on funds because I don't regret buying my aam posi one bit. I picked mine up from drive train America out of iowa. Best price I found.

Btw I've pulled with mine 3 times the back never opened up. But the front always does down track. I don't care though I like racing better. You can just tell how much stronger they are than a g 80 when there sitting on a work bench right next to each other.
