For a V8 there is little to be gained. You should if possible match a divided turbine with a divided pedestal if possible, but it's not critical.
IIRC, It's used to capture more of the energy of the exhaust by reducing the pulse flow into the other cylinders, and to focus the pulses better against the wheel. With a V8, the pulse gaps are much shorter than a 4 or a 6 cyl, so the gain is minimal.
