I was helping some family friends move yesterday. Had my Dmax and a skid loader trailer, which I have 20" sides built. First load went no problem, loaded truck and trailer and pulled up the hill out of the yard just fine.
Second trip backed down the hill, decent grade and between trees and roots in a yard. Loaded the truck and trailer, all the while the sun is coming out and the frozen ground is starting to thaw. Went to pull up the hill and the truck started to spin in 4-hi as the trailer caught some roots. I left it coast back and try to get a slight run for it, didn't work. So my only choice was to clean out the tires and let it dig. I went about half throttle, letting off intermitently to keep egt's down (which stupid me was not watching, too concerned about the truck sliding into trees and a fence). Well after some pawing and digging the Dmax drug the loaded trailer about 40-50 yrds up the hill to solid ground. It was cool seeing the mud flying and hearing the turbo spool.
The Dmax power dug 6" ruts in the yard, and all the while throwing mud all over the stuff loaded in the trailer. I had mud covering the windshield, side of the truck, and my hood which was just painted the day before. The homeowners could care less about the yard and said the mud would clean off the furniture and boxes (they were going into storage anyway), they were more concerned about my truck. I said its seen alot worse than that.
Again not a kill story, but I thought it was a cool story of what these trucks can do.
