Today i noticed when changing a trans cooler line on my 05 6.0 gasser when i removed the air box that it has, for lack of a better word, "snorkels" that go into the two holes in the fender to completely seal the box off from the engine compartment, where as my Dmax airbox just has a big square hole in it that pulls air from the entire engine bay and the bottom hole in the fender has a piece of dynamat type material from the factory covering it:confused: Would it be better to cut out the bottom hole have the other airbox for lower IAT's or are they too restrictive? Or possibly the snorkel style airbox with the face cut out?

In 01 GM ran an airbox on the diesel like the gassers have, but in 02 they changed it as they found it was to restrictive.

That's what I figured after looking at it, but if someone were to take a gassed style airbox and cut the front out like is done on the "swiss cheese" box mod it should take care of the restriction and the hot air from the engine compartment, right?
