I am looking into maybe doing diy twins with stock charger. Everything I read people say s475 most say Borg warner P/N 171702 S475ay. I tow a 31' camper and would like to lower egt but want to stay very tow and daily driver friendly. Would this charger b a good choice? How would I control boost on the big turbo? wastegate? if so how big of gate is needed? I don't have studs, rods and have stock pump with lift pump and efi. Are there any good tuners close to north alabama?

I'm putting on the same kit very soon for the same reasons. I pull a 35' fifth wheel camper and I want lower egts. It will be stock turbo with a 475

I love the 475/IHI setup. I hacked up an older MPI kit from an lbz to make it fit my lb7. Mine has a wastegate, but it also has a smaller turbine wheel than some people use for twins.

I posted the same ? on diesel place this morning still no replies wow its dead over there, thanks for the quick replies. Do u need to controll the boost from the big turbo or will the little turbos gate take care of it? What kind of hp are most getting out of this setup? I am sure it can put up more than my stock motor can handle.

Why control the boost? All but the early mpi kits don't gate the bottom. From what I have seen theirs not a good reason to gate when using the 171702.

Most people run a turbine size so big that you won't build the boost that you won't need to gate it, only if you are pushing a lot of fuel or tight AR for some reason. That is why no gate on the primary/low pressure/ bottom turbo. When you get it on use the stock waste gate actuator for the IHI, you want it to open up quick
