Right now I run a CAT filter on the stock filter head, been a while since I did anything on the truck. Would a DIY lift pump setup be worth the effort? Only running a lvl 3 PPE tune.

Was thinking a Kennedy pump, CAT water sep, and then large filter, along with the small guy up front.

Thoughts?

(apoligies if this is wrong section)

Thats what I use but I have the stock filter up front but not long Im deleting it. I have a raptor pump with a filter head running a cat style filter. I built a rock gaurd for mine and put ball valves on the inlet and outlet so It wont drain all the fuel in the lines when I change filters.

Ok, so running a big ass CAT filter right after the pump and a water separator right before the pump should help out?

Now, do I run a larger micron for the first filter, or just run a 2mic one there and delete the one up at engine?

A lift pump is very beneficial for even a stock tuned truck. I'd be interested to see how you do this. I am in the process of getting rid of my stock filter, and I'm either going to run a similar setup as you described (I already have the Kennedy pumps), or switch to an Airdog.

Have you thought about going with the Airdog?

An airdog setup is pricey as hell.

Figure a couple trips to a local marine diesel shop, and for much less I can get a good filtration setup installed.

My only question is how to plumb it in, cut hardline and flare it to adapt to a pushlok/SS braided line or drop tank.

I know I have seen a few threads about people building custom filter setups with pics.
Just cant remember the names of the threads.

You are correct, but the Kennedy's aren't cheap either. You might be up close to the AD price range when all is said and done, although with some creative efficiency, you should be able to save a few hundred bucks. I would like to see how you do it.

P.S. My Kennedy pumps are awesome! A setup like you are talking about would be superior to the Airdog in my opinion, at least for my use of my truck. I don't want to sound like I am talking anyone out of the Kennedy pumps.

Yea I will have to price it out, and see how things compare.

The ease of finding cat filters and I think cheaper cost is leaning me towards them.

Run the water separator before the pump. The thread above has mine after the pump but the PPE has since died and I have a BD Flow-max with the sep. filter in front now. Always run the larger Micron filter first, then the tighter Micron filter.

1/2" push lock will slip right over the factory hard lines. Just use a tubing cutter so you have a nice clean cut.

Would rather not make this prone to issues, just not feeling safe with a hose clamp as fuel connection point.

I am gonna grab a Wix filter for up front this weekend and check out what they have in stock in terms of filter heads etc. Grab myself a big ass racor water separator
