Does anyone know if its possible to make my own filtration system? I Dont need a lift pump and i like the idea of a 2micron filter. I like Nicktane's system but i think i could make my own for less $. Need some advice on what parts to buy. Thanks!!:D

You can get everything from Napa. You'll need filter head, filters, fuel line, hose clamps, and barbed fittings.

Secondary fuel filtration and fuel air separation are two different things.

Are you insinuating that this would not be as good as an Airdog system? Thanks again.

No, I'm just letting you know that adding secondary filtration won't do the same thing as an Air Dog or FASS system. That said, I'm not convinced those systems are really that beneficial to a common rail diesel. They don't use fuel to fire the injectors like a mechanical diesel.

I was thinking i could save some money by making my own filter system and getting a lift pump without filters. Maybe this is not a good idea. I want your opinions.

Lots of people have had good success with putting something together on their own. That said, if i was looking for a lift pump and secondary fuel filtratoin, I would probably spend the few extra dollars up front and get an all in one system. It would make plumbing easier, and the Air Dog (I think FASS too) comes with a lifetime warranty. I doubt anything you put together yourself will come with much more than a 1 year warranty.

X2 ^ also anything that you put together isn't going to filter the air out of the fuel just the water. imo for 499 you can't beat a lifetime warranty and a complete "bolt on kit"

Kennedy's lift pump/filter gig is nice. He's sayin' it'll flow and work with good life. If you haven't spec'd it out it's worth a look at a designed unit. Several good choices just have to decide how you want yours done. Lots of reading for sure.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when any liquid is pressurized the air naturally raises to the top. In this case, the top would be the filter base. So when you put that little raised portion on the top of the filter base, the air goes in there. All you need is a spring and a check ball. It would work kinda on the same principle as a pressure canner, except the heat isn't what's supplying the pressure, the pump is supplying the pressure instead. It pretty simple unless I am missing something.
