I read an article today that kinda scared me! It was about a LBZ that bent a rod from a bad injector sticking open and had some other issues due to bolt on performance parts and tuning. It doesnt come out and say what mods, combo's, or brands and kinda leans toward he was stacking. I'm just wondering if I'm gonna have this problem with mine:confused:. I know my tranz will maybe fail eventually, but am I running too much for my bottom end to handle? I dont plan on adding any more HP producing mods, just maybe eventually a bigger intercooler and maybe a garrett stg 1 to cool the sucker off.

With an Excelerator Standard I doubt you are any where near pushing it on the bottom end.

thats my problem with the LBZ's rods in a semi performance motor build , they can still be hurt , but as said you should be plenty safe with your mods.

I am pushing mine to the limit it could fall off the cliff any day now hopefully it will last through the TS weekend then Im gonna put my stock turbo back on to cut the power down to keep from frying the pistons or bending a rod

What is your RWHP vs @ the crank Wes ? I'm curious. Also what can I do to raise the safety factor on my bottom end with out getting into the motor really? Besides that , adding a bigger intercooler and or upgraded tubes wont hurt anything right?

I saw a thread of his where he put down 600+/-hp/1300+/- tq IIRC. Cant remember the exact numbers.

Could the damage already have been done? Or would I have noticed some problems by now. I used to run a Triple dog on extreme alot even before I got my exhaust upgrade and guages( until I was told how stupid that was). I never had the crazy larry tune though, I didnt like B-dogs tech support so I switched to PPE and have been happy with it!!

You'll know if there is any damage believe me, you'll know, the thing u need to look out for say your doing a burnout an the engine is making power then you let off the throttle DON;T STAND RIGHT BACK ON IT, that's when those rods can be bend, alson watch the rev limiter, I know because that's how I bent my first rod, damp road I was running about 35mph cogged down on it started spinning let out an stood right back on an bam she pulled up lame, an that's my 2cents

It seems 600rwhp is a common number for the limit for the LBZ/LMM stock bottom end. That doesn't mean it couldn't go under that or hold more though. From reading around different forums I'd say I'm more worried about cracking a piston than I am bending a rod. You can be right around 500rwhp which seems fairly safe but could still have a piston crack. Way to many variables. I believe EGT's are the main issue for the piston's to crack but I'm trying to learn more about this too as I'd like to have around 500hp.

when i blew mine up it put a hole in the piston that you could stick a #2 pencil threw and i was around 650 rwhp with some high drive pressure. i believe thats what made it go boom, but the rods were in tip top shape when i pulled it

IMO, rods bend because of excess cylinder pressure. Tuning plays a huge role in that. Anything over 525rw, youre taking a risk. You decide if its worth it.

I'm probably only running about 475 RWHP right? So as long as I dont push the Egt's to high or add any more HP building mods I should be fairly safe right? As long as I dont shift wrong or step in the throttle @ the wrong time.:D

and x2 what trent said lmm rods just wont cut it for long i'll see how long im sure if i would of had the money for carillos

yep bigger injectors will help you with that you could put bigger nozzles in so you can shorten the pusle width(and still have the same amount of fuel) and take timing out so you can drop cyl pressures down an put them at the right time
