I'm particularly troubled to have to buy an Audi or Benz for a newer diesel that can carry more than 5 people so I'm looking for a referral to someone reputable in the SF/Bay Area to have a GMC '08-'10 diesel >50k swap with a similar year yukonXL/suburban; any shop/mechanic suggestions? anything that i should be concerned with in attempting this? - thanks!

Im not sure with a swap like this that you are going to be able to be picky on the area where it happens. Im pretty sure there are only a hand full (maybe half) of people in the country that can even pull something like this off reliably.

Agree with CrazyCrew. Look up duraburb on Youtube. They offer turnkey solutions on many different models of GM. Don't think they have an official website but their number is all over the youtube vids.
Blackhawk and crazycrew are right, be very careful with the NBS SUV's if the person or Co you are dealing with doesn't know what they are doing you will end up with a semi funtion SUV, worse yet a 7800 lb paper weight. DuraBurb is the only Co in the country that builds NBS 2500 and 1500 SUV's 100% OEM, dual tank interrogation, autotrack 4x4 even stabilatrack, you wont get that from anyone else, of course thats my soap box sermon
