Diesel shops in Bay Area..

Down the road I am looking to do some work to the dmax. Like the trans, engine building etc... I was wondering if there are any good diesel shops in the bay area. Particulary in the north bay area. I'm willing to drive quite a distance to make sure I find the right guys. Anybody know of any shops?
