Well guys, I'm still pretty pumped about yesterday. Couldn't have asked for a better day for racing. It was a track rental at Summit Raceway Park (Norwalk), hands down the best track in Ohio. There were only about 30 or so cars, a handful of bikes, and 1 truck.
Best of all, nobody that we were with broke!
Weather was partly cloudy, 65-70 and a light breeze that picked up as the day went on. I used some aviation skills to figure the DA was +/- sea level for most of the day.
I'm giving my truck the day off today, It towed my buddy's 28 footer with his Cobra, four-wheeler, gen., and a bunch of other things needed at the strip (around 9-10k). The round trip was 320 miles-ish, I got about 13 mpg while towing, and it busted off 8 12 sec passes between being the workhorse. All on the same tune, egt's stayed pretty reasonable while towing. I was really impressed by that.
Prep was standard, the only thing I did different was that I pulled the tail gate, and after 3 passes I yanked the back seat.
The only thing that kind of sucked was that they would only let me run in the right lane.
A little smoke never hurt anyone.
On the first pass, I guess all of the people at the starting line were kind of like what's this diesel truck doing here when I was staging. Then when the 12.99 flashed they all screamed OOOHHHHHH!
I made the 12.86, then pulled the back seat and made a 12.83. When I got the 12.82 ticket I just put it in the cup holder and didn't even think about it because I was so dead set on getting 12.7's. Then when I got back to the staging lanes and I was like holy s! That was a 12.82.
Best mph for the day was 104.74 on the first pass when the wind was calm, it picked up to about a 10 mph quartering headwind by the end of the day.
Here's some picks
