My boys borrowed my truck today to pickup some building material...maybe 1000 lbs in the bed of the truck. They said they were cruising around 50 and tried to accelerate and the truck wouldn't go (said it felt it was running out of fuel) I checked for codes when they returned and it showed P0700...no other codes present. Tranny has maybe 20K on a rebuild from an Alllison service center in San Bernardino. I took the truck for a drive and couldn't duplicate the problem. Of course when I drove the truck I rolled into the throttle slowly from 50 and the truck pulled hard until I let off the fuel...around 80. Any ideas???

No...they said it felt like running out of fuel, but still able to keep speed at 50 + When I drove the truck everything felt fine...shifted perfect and when I accelerated from a stop it shifted perfect all through the gears. Truck has almost full tank of fuel and fuel filter has maybe 100 miles....

Maybe you got a bad batch of fuel....thinking fuel filter (did you replace all of them-reading your sig?), or...

I can't remember the codes, but my truck felt that way when the FPR started to fail. It would nose over (fell flat on it's face :() any time over 50% throttle.

When my truck felt that way, I wound up replacing all the neoprene fuel lines. My buddy is a Sevice Tech and he said there was a bulletin out on it. Anyway, I bought about $30.00 worth of 3/8" hose and some hose clamps and replaced all the flexible fuel lines. No problems since. :thumb:

Normaly p0700 is a sign of a limp.

No, P0700 is a sign of a check engine light commanded on because of a transmission malfunction. The codes that follow the P0700 lead you to the reason for the TCM throwing that code.

I thought it was a command because of a limp. Like a pending illumination code for other codes? Like 2 trip. Im sure im wrong but thats what i thought lol thanks for the correctiom mike.

Well I did get a bit more information, but nothing that really helps. The problem happened when going up a slight hill going to Lowes....He was cruising at around 50 when he hit the hill. He didn't give any fuel, but the transmission downshifted and that's when the problem was noticed. When he did give fuel to stay going 50 it seemed there was no fuel (Truck wouldn't accelerate) He continued to Lowes, loaded the truck up with about 1K of materials and drove back home without another incident. I guess I will drive the truck daily for awhile to see if the problem happens again.

Every time I limped my stock trans the P0700 code would come on, after I cleared the code it would drive normal until the next time it would come on.

Did you clear the SES or CEL (what ever you prefer to call it) light before you drove it around?
