Dexcool percentage??

Been playing with cooling over the years and have always added more pure Dex to my system. Thinking I'm probably over 50% which would diminish the cooling effect. Will a standard coolant mix tester (floating ball) work with Dex like the green stuff or give a false reading? Tester currently says boil over at 15 psi is 263-265 degrees.

It is the same basic ingredient in each, so that should be fine. I use one of those fancy optical meters, it works. I use 40% or less, FWIW, and no dexcool, Zerex G-05

mind me asking why you use Zerex? curious, maybe I can learn something.

It is a "hybrid" Organic Acid Coolant, combining the best of Dexcool, and the cavitation resistance of some of the older coolants, without the wear-related high silicate levels.

Plus it is not involved in any litigation.

I got it at Pep boys and Checker. It is more expensive so it is hit or miss.

Oh, also, a few drops of red food coloring, and it looks just like dexcool.

I read somewhere about water wetter, any opinion? I picked up a bottle, haven't used it.
and I've looked for the Zerex but no luck.

The G-05 or just regular Zerex. How much will it take if I just drain the radiator ??
