There was a guy from Delaware that raced a front engine dragster with a diesel,Ran in the 8's back in the 80's, His name is John Carey of Careys diesel's he also had a few top fuel dragsters 3 at one time.
Since they are 2-stroke, if you get them dialed in correctly there is a huge advantage running one of them.
But so far, for their displacement, they don't seem to be setting the world on fire in racing.

Where can I look for more info. on the performance aspects of these dudes? Pretty impressive. They don't seem to keep up (even the heavily modified ones) with other diesels today but are cool nonetheless. For example, out west there is a couple of them in mod. class pulling trucks and they get waxed by that badass 1st gen Dodge painted in bars n stripes. Even though they get beat, they are still super cool IMO.

Doug had a website but now is gone since the merger. Doug still runs the Mystery 8 dragster, used to have the engine in a 80s chevy truck. Engine was all alum. 6v53 parallel turbos feeding a blower & spraying nitrous.
