Deleting Stock Fuel Filter

With my twins the stock fuel filter has always been in the way and a PITA to change. I have a MITUSA lift pump which has a filter after the pump before the CP3 in case any thing happens to the pump. The reason I kept the stock filter was for the integrated fuel heater for the winter.

Now my truck is a weekend toy and I don't plan to use it in the winter any more. Would I be safe to delete the stock filter and just use the filter with the MITUSA?

-What is the micron filtering size of the stocker?
-I could mount and extra pre filter on the frame if I still should run duel filters.
Thanks

I've thought of doing the same but the mitusa filter, if setup as instructed is only functional when the pump is delivering fuel. At least I'm fairly certain of this. It could probably be set up differently though...

I thought about this too steven...

IMO I dont think the fuel filter is THAT hard to change with twins, but it still is harder than stock. My only question is what would you do about adding the primer if you run out of fuel?

Before I had the MITUSA, I had a Edlelbrock 1792 pump, I kept the 1792 and it is hookup up on a bypass with a check valve, and I now use it just to prime my filters.
Step 1: Install new filters
Step 2: Turn on 1792 from in cab switch, let run for 2 min
Step 3: Open bleed valve on stock filter ( not nessary but speeds things up)
Step 4: Start truck.

Work flawlessly every time.

I've been running the MITUSA pump for 2 full years now and have never tossed a belt, which would allow unfiltered fuel to the CP3 through the bypass, the only purpose of the bypass check valve is if you loose the MITUSA drive belt, Since I'm pulling the stock filter, I will also be removing the "Fuel log" Bypass with the MITUSA. This is a weekend end only truck and I don't carry a spare or jack, or any other spare parts or tools. I do have a VISA, Cell Phone, and a AAA card though:D

Normally my DMAX never travel farther then a couple hrs from my shop, unless it's going to Fine Tuning Performance in Montreal for more upgrades.

stock filter is 2 micron there is 1 microns out there
raycor makes a filter and housing that implements a heater and /or WIF sensor
mine is gone and gone for good:D

Our puller only runs the air dog filter, no stock filter.
Same here. I have a Wix 2 micron filter (Cat replacement) on the frame. I just took off the stock filter where it bolts to the valve cover mount. I removed the big banjo fitting from outlet line in the filter that went to the FICM. I but the banjo fitting in the line that ran to the inlet on the filter housing and bolted it to the FICM.

I would not remove the OEM filter unlessyou have better filteration in line to replace it.

I was wonderin this too... I wanna use the Summit Billet pump off of my malibu for my LP (carb-psi pump) @ 8-10lbs fuel psi, i have a mount to put a CAT filter on the frame an remove the whole stock POS and run line to the FICM. Hows that sound? Should i add a bleed fitting somewhere? Also, do you guys think it would be better to use a bypass and boost switch to activate the pump or run all the time?

How do you run the fuel to the CP3 and then to the FICM? Return to FICM?
Well i,m havin trouble rememberin but im pretty sure the pump has -10AN fittings in it now and i know the filter head is of that size or bigger. And any explination on running pump all the time on the LB's?:D

I would like to run my 95gph Fass pump to the ficm and then just return it to the tank. Then get a 150gph airdog system and run it straight to the cp3 and return to the tank.

Dale mentionioned that a while ago and i like the ide but i would use a KD pump instead and the fass 150 or airdog:)
