Hey guys :) I know most of you here are sled pullers and drag racers which is AWESOME but I thought I would post some info on what I am planning for my Dmax that I dont plan to drag race or sled pull. Some of the info might be helpful for you guys wanting to get rid of the IFS as well and aren't aware of some great options available out there.

Ok so this is the plate that Triple X Traction offers. The reason for the drop skid plate area is to allow for a NV273 transfer case to fit under the truck and mate up to an allison! Trevor at WFO Concepts offers a 273 transfer case that is all good to go and comes with a clocking ring so that the transfer case will bolt right up to our Allison trucks. The transfer case output shaft for the front diff will be about 3 1/4"- 4" lower than our 263. This 273 comes out of the 03 and newer Dodge trucks. It will still allow you to use your electronic push button 4 wheel drive. If you have a manual floor shifter than you can run a 271.

Triple X traction also offers all the hardware, links, and brackets as a full kit to 4 Link the front of a 01-10 HDs. Even though I am planning on 12" of lift I thought that this might be good info for guys wanting to convert their drag racers/sled pullers over to D60s. Let me know what you guys think. Maybe some one has tried this setup. Would be nice to hear some feedback before I start removing my IFS stuff :)

I havent actually started the project. Im starting to wonder if I am totally over thinking the whole project or am I just being thorough and avoiding headaches later. I talked more to Toby at triple X about his kit. They use the 2.65 Ballistic joints at the top of the links and bushings at the axle end of the links the links are made out of .25 wall DOM tube. 05 style radius arm mounts on the axle itself. For all 4 links (with ends) the skid plate, upper and lower coil mounts, the coilovers, and axle link mounts he wants $4,700 plus shipping. Would be around $5,000 shipped. I would like to run 3" Ballistic joints and .375 wall DOM tube. That changes up what he already made up for a kit so not sure what the price change would be.

So atm the plan is to get the truck into the shop and start with the rear and the transfer case first. Get my ride height set then build the front to match. I talked to a local area steel shop and they said they would water jet out a 3/8" plate after I give the dimensions for $300 or less thats material/ labor total. They can get me the 1.5IDX2.25ODX.375 wall DOM for $13.50 a foot I figured roughly I would need 24' that includes building rear traction links that will tie into the plate as well. About $325 for the link material. I would need 6 Ballistic Fab joints for the tops of all 6 links that would be roughly $420. I want to try and either measure a Superduty axle mount for the radius arms or try and purchase those mounts some how. Then run bushings on all 6 at the other end. So in total I would have about $2000 in parts/labor plus my time of welding up the links and brackets to the axle and frame. I would also need to purchase the coilovers. So depending on the price of those I think I would be roughly $1,000-$1,500 ahead to do it myself. I like the option of doing it myself because thats half the fun and hopefully I can save the money as well.

Do it your self. When my truck was on 44 boggers and i straight axled it i had 5 grand in everything and that included tires and rims. High steer arms. Dual stablizer shocks and all if you build it you can use leaf springs and a airbags if u wanted. You will have less money then coil overs and the smooth ride of the coil over.

Have you looked into offroad unlimited. They offer a straight axle conversion kit. They have a leaf spring kit and a four link kit for our trucks and they offer from leveled hieght to a I think 12 Inch or more.

I have looked at the ORU kit. They want 17k for the 4 link kit! For that kind of money I would run 2 Duramax engines in my truck! ROFL! As far as the leaf springs go the bracket kit is pretty reasonable I guess but I really don't want to run leaf springs. I suppose anyone could throw leaf springs under the front that way. Also from what I have read the ORU slip yoke is NOT the way to go! Converting to a 273 transfer case from a 03 or newer dodge like I stated in first post is the best solution to the fixed yoke problem.

A couple people I know have done the leaf spring conversion and their trucks ride like log wagons. I really would like to stay away from airbags. I will be sure to put pics on here right before my truck goes on the chopping blocks and then very in depth step by step pics and details of everything I do from start to finish.

How much was Trevors 273 kit with the t-case???

I am planning on ripping my front end out this coming week/weekend.

Trevor quoted me over the phone around $800.00+ my used good working condition stock transfer case(263). I was reading on GMFULLSIZE forum that this style of yoke that the ORU SYE shaft uses is not nearly effective as having a fixed yoke flange style like the 273 transfer cases use from the factory. So I figured for 549.00(price of ORU SYE) I might as well off the factory transfercase and spend a little more and have a better end product. Plus the fact that he sends a clocking ring to help with drive shaft angle in the front. Thats the best info I have atm. PLease keep me posted on what route you go and how it works out for you as it sounds you will be getting to it before me :)

What is the axle coming out of?
I might go that route with the transfer case. And I might be replacing my AAM (seems to be bent and I would rather have a 60 I found in a 2001 dodge)
I wish I had just ordered the pure kit minus the shocks and coils.

I will be running this setup shortly.. You guys can check out my threads at duramaxforum and dieselplace if you want. I'm running the NP 271 with 10"-
11" on 38's. it great because if i ever get tired of running 10" of lift i can lower it back down to 6.5 - 7". Toby's work is impecable.. Did i spell that right?

What did you do for the steering pitman arm? Did you have the sector shaft changed?

Hah, no shit? You just ground a "blind" off or something? Easy enough. Had to do that on my GF's Ford...

For the steering I would contact Toby at Triple X Traction he said he can get a great price from PSC to build a brand new unit that will allow for Hydro steer and it will have a better shaft to allow a better drop pitman arm. Something about our stock steering shafts have to many blank splines not really sure. I am using a 1978 1/2 Ford Dana 60 High pinion Kingpin axle. I was originally going to just run leaf springs but decided to go 4Link instead.
