For the last 3-4 months my cylinder 3 injector balance rate has been going from -/+0.8 or so up to 4.5-5.0. Sometimes it'll be almost perfect and other times it'll be up around 5.0-/+ I don't get any smoke or rough idle or anything. I've tried diesel kleen and 2 stroke oil which has brought it down to 3.0 but I don't understand why it will go close to 0 sometimes. Should it be replaced? It appears to me that it must be sticking or something. I just don't want to replace if I can do something
With this one. It's just up and down which makes me wonder what exactly makes it fluctuate like that. There's also no difference in engine performance from the rate being low opposed to being out of spec.

Yeah I mean it sits more around 4-5 usually but it also has been down around -/+0.5-0.8 I will try the ice pick mod as it may not be making a good connection. Who knows

Common problem when you have a leaking nozzle. As it sits the nozzles spray pattern doesn't spray evenly out all the holes which causes the cylinder to lose temp and your balance rate climbs up. Run it up and bring the temp back up and it will clear out until the cylinder temp goes back down. You could try cleaning the injectors with 2 gallons of diesel and a bottle of GM upper cylinder cleaner(do a search and you should be able to find plenty of posts on how to do it).

So if in fact that its a leaking nozzle then a replacement injector should be bought? I don't think I would want to buy just a new nozzle for the old injector? Correct?

I'd just ice pick it and see if it helps if not the nozzle or the pencil in the nozzle could be sticking a little bit, but to be safe buy a new bosch reman and nozzle and swap out nozzles if u have bigger nozzles :thumb: I had to do that as I had the same problem as you Devon, but mine had an awful knock.

Alright cool,I'll try the ice pick method, if not i mean I can get an injector for cheap enough. Thanks!

A new injector isn't terribly expensive! But even on here I'm sure there are guys with good used ones that could hook you up, that's what I love about this forum. :woott: Good luck with this by the way.

Thanks, last couple days she has been around .8-1.0-/+ and its been 90* out plus. I don't know if it has anything to do with the ambient temps outside but she's been behaving.
