Well straight pipe is about a loud as it can get and keeping it quiet with a muffler is going to cost you a little more. Pick your poison. I suppose you might be able to find a better flowing offest 4" muffler and neck it up to the muffler inlet/outlet, but at that point you're probably close to the price of a cheap 4" exhaust.

You can buy a 3.5" muffler delete pipe on ebay for about $50 if you don't mind the noise.

Mines straightpiped its loud and has a mean sound but I also have the mbrp downpipe as well and it makes it little deeper. You could get an 4 inch back exhaust with no muffler and itll sound alot better than a straight pipe. Just straight pipe it. Its cheap as hell and if you dont like it get the full exhaust. Cause sometimes straight piped can have an odd sound. I like mine with the downpipe otherwise i would of bought the full 4 inch no muffler exhaust. Hope this helps you decide.

search lb7 drone I'd take the exhaust all the way out to the rear of the truck with a muffler.

Also if you dump it right under the cab the fumes will be pretty strong when you're stationary.

I agree, it just sounds obnoxious without any muffler. I'd dump it out the back without one. If you want to make a performance difference, get a new downpipe.
