Im in search of some peices to build a 5" exhaust from the down pipe to the single stack in the bed of the truck

there are a lot of options on this site for big rig exhausts and clamps one thing i was interested in was the SS flex pipe and thought it would be nice to use for the down pipe

I have a 4.7 V band clamp that goes to a 4 1/2 90* and I am going to order a swedge to go from 4 1/2 to 5" then i was going to go pipe if I could use the flex pipe it would make life easy!

what do you people think about useing SS flexpipe as exhaust pipes? also they have really good step clamps

I believe thats what is on my sons truck for his stack, bought from Black Cloud Diesel as a kit, and yes the clamps seemed to be good quality.

Sounds like you have most of what you want/need. I really have come to enjoy fabbing intake/exhaust/IC stuff. Since you have a good welder/fab Man in house why not just order a couple short 90's or a U and do it yourself? I also found weather flaps at the big rig shop and cut off the backside weight and used a small peice of lead to counter balance the flapper, otherwise the counter balance is a big bulky (tab) thing that forces you to mount the exhaust farther from the cab.

As i side note, the best deals/prices i found was going through an exhaust company and ordering pipe/fittings, otherwise you could be faced with $50-70 for U's. Up to 4" is easy to find, 5 and up becomes a call the supply house and order it type deal. One of the largest suppliers is just down the street from Pat's shop.

not sure what a weather flap is? I have a full 5" exhaust from a dodge
the reason i was thinking of useing the flexpipe is because its going to be akward to get a 5" down pipe to fit:D the left handed dipstick is so nice

James im planning on only useing a small amount of the flex and will probably oval the 5" tubing in certain places

basically just want to have the options ready when i go to build it:)
