Cummins and now an lly duramax

I just bought a bone stock 2005 with 223k miles. I have always owned a cummins and still have an old 12v. I am looking for some advice on what basic mods to do to this lly. I was thinking of going with a mbrp complete straight pipe exhaust with no restrictions. Will it have the dreaded drone like my cummins? I was also wanting to get rid of the egr system, any kits to look for? Once I free up the exhaust I was planning on a slight increase in power with a chip?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It will not drone like a cummins. Depending upon how much you want spend, work, and what you use the truck for will determine how far to go. If it was mine I would do a complete exhaust, down pipe, full egr delete, mouth piece, stock lbz intake, gauges (or insight), lift pump, and last but not least EFI live. I did all of this to the last lbz I got. I had all of this done before I tagged it :woott:
