Cruze DEF

So our cruze we bought got down to 9% def fluid so i figured time to fill up. Put two gallons in not even close. Come to find out this little car takes 4.9 gal of this stuff.

Also the manual claims speed limiting if it goes under a certain percentage. Like 65 mph then 55 mph then 4 mph. Now thats ridiculous.

Where is everyone else buying this stuff? Buying in bunk seems it may be the best way to go until warranty is up.

The stuff has a shelf life so don't buy to much if you can't use it within a year I believe. Most truck stops sell it at the pump

That was another thing that limited speed. If the fluid was expired or bad. Guess bulk isn't a good idea. But 5 gallons at a time would be better than the gallon containers I bought today.
Remember this is my first with def fuel. I may start buying it at the pump when I'm around one that sells it.

The def trucks are very picky also, they will speed limit for low / contaminated def

I just think its a bit absurd that they try to regulate everything so much. I understand limiting annoying kids that wanna roll coal and turn everything black while driving in town. Surely a stock diesel can't put out that much toxins. Or maybe I'm wrong and diesels are the number one leading factor in ozone depletion and global warming. What do I know.

Global warming is a fraud and lie..... just keep a close eye on it and suffer basically hate dealing with that shit I never keep a warranty on anything never seems to do anything anyway

Well being its the first year of diesel cruze, Im not gonna risk it. The touch screen alone costs $2,500 or something crazy like that. I can wait another year or so for a delete.

Like I stated I think def is ridiculous anyway.

I've been buying my Peak Blue DEF (2-1/2 gallon box) at Sam's Wholesale for $10.87. That same box at O'reilly's is over $13.00. I also keep a one gallon jug in my truck, just-in-case I run low out on the road. :thumb:

Surely a stock diesel can't put out that much toxins..

Diesel engines produce a shitload of NOx emissions, like many times more than a gas engine due to the difference in combustion temps between the two engines. NOx is the bad kind that you cant see and contribute to the smog we USED to see (but its cleaned up now because of engine emissions controls) in the 1960's-1970's in big cities.

The DEF is what cleans up the NOx. The DPF is what cleans up the soot. Just because you cant see anything coming out of your tailpipe doesnt mean that exhaust is clean.

Global warming may be a farce, but the general automotive emissions pollution being a problem is not...its the reason LA used to be in a constant cloud and now it isnt.
