Crankpin deformed .020" at 11,000 mi.

Casper's first engine is being tore down, and we saw a very deformed crankshaft locator pin! :eek:

I've never had one of these apart. Is that the balancer side of flywheel side?? It looks like the balancer side to me.

We have seen these shear on stock engines, and other engines the pins look new.

Good news is that shearing that pin won't grenade your engine like the cam pin will. Bad news is keying it requires pulling the engine out.

Would the 2CP3 make it worse? Dunno. I believe the PS would be the highest crank load on an engine.

More than the fan???? Or the A/C comp????

I'm thinkin bought goin with a liquid filled balancer. Does anyone else run one? Does anyone think it would help the shear pin problem from occuring??

except shearing this one, while it wont destroy the engine, it will stop the engine from running properly (or running at all).
