Hey guys the truck is torn apart right now for Head Gaskets only to find that there is a cracked piston! :( Does anyone know if LB7 pistons are the same as LLY? If so I'll just replace 1 and cross my fingers!
My other thought is (since its just one piston, and only started in the piston lip maybe 1/4 inch or so) to dremmel it down in hopes of it stopping the crack and just putting her together! TRADE IN!

Whacha all think?

Fortunately you caught it in time, but I think it wouldn't be balanced right if you were to try and use a dremel

If you could swing getting a new/used piston in there I'd do that. How many passes do you have on it?

I do have access to 30ish LB7 pistons so I prob could come up with maybe even 8 good ones. Gee, I wonder if I can get a machine shop to Dee-lip em for FREE! LOL
Well it's good to here that the LB7's will work. I'll keep u guys posted on "THE BAND-AID" I think I'll name it!:D
Anyone with more info feel free to offer!

At the track Passes 70-80 not sure, but it does have 110,000 HARD street miles.

Thanks guys,

Shawn

Not sure I want to know! If the rods are bent I may be able to come up with those as well.

Man I'm sticking to S.B.Chevy's after this mess I swear!

Found used Motor (CHEAP) it was in a burner but almost no damage! Complete long block in perfect shape 27,000 and it was $1800 bucks with a 1 year warranty!!!!! Hell my factory one ran out so I may even be ahead of the game. Should be in the truck within a week.:D

It's running again! Picked her up last Wens night, runs great! Ive got to give GIANT Coodos to my friend Billy at BV Diesel he is a mad man, never saw anyone work so fast in my life! He had the motor out /parts swapped and back together in maybe 3 working days. Mind you, he has a full time job as well. The motor has 27k and runs like it* nice and quiet no more smoky (blue) start ups. I figured out why the motor had such low miles,(27k didn't makes sense) the truck was burned back in Nov of 2006 so it was only driven 1.5 years and then sat all that time just waiting for me to get lucky and happen apon it! I guess it might be time to put a conservative tune in the truck and make her last a little longer this time.
