I am curious as to what is all involved in swapping a cp3 pump? I might be able to get a good deal on a dragon flow pump and was curious as to how much work it would be or if there were any special tools needed?

Do you have to disassemble the whole front of the motor? We have quite a few pulls coming up and I am just looking to see if I could get it done in one day.

More like disassemble the top of the motor.

IMO, Upper coolant hose assy removed, wiring harness needs to be undone and moved and Intake Bridge, turbo inlet removed

Not sure on removing any fuel-system related parts (hoses, lines, junction block, etc...).

Todd is right. Shouldnt be difficult, just time consuming.

so the cp3 pump can be taken out from the top of the valley? I am planning on the whole pump not just parts of it.

When I had an LLY Y bridge I did not remove that. It was tough but it came out. With the LBZ stuff, we take the bridge out. We can do it in about 3 hrs start to finish now. I'd plan 6 the first time though. Good luck

On an LLY you will have to remove a couple fuel lines, the wiring harness...

I would probably start by taking the turbo intake, y-bridge, thermostat housing, AC compressor... I'd even venture to remove the driver side fuel rail and the fuel lines that cross from the FICM over to the pump and return lines and stuff.

When I get working on something I hate having something in the way of what I'm trying to do. its easier for me to remove it and put it aside than to work around it.

How does the CP3 bolt in place? And its gear driven, is there any securing device for the gear drive, or could you easily unbolt the CP3, slide it out and slide a new one in and bolt it back up?

whenever photoobucket site maitenance is done ill post a link from when i repaced my cp3, pretty much everything on the front has to come off except for the cover for the gears and balancer and water pump. remove all lines op top of the motor around the cp3, and your gonna have to use screw drivers to "walk" it from both sides till you can pick it up and roll it out

Thanks pics always help. I might get the pump next week. Could somebody help me with the fuel tables if I get the pump? I don't feel confident enough with my tunning and that much fuel.

Does the pump just slide into the drive gear? Those pics are great. Looks like I'm going to waste another day in the garage.

Yeah you'll need to wiggle it back and forth to get it to slide out, maybe use a small flathead screwdriver to gently help it move. Then you have to swap the gear over onto the other pump.
