Fixing to get EFI Live and I was wanting to know what kind of prices for a trany build and is there any shops within 4/500miles of me. Just north of Alexandria,La. I talked to Suncoast and they want to do a swap with tq converter about 6,500 them doing the swap. I don't want to spend that much if I don't have to.

This is no help to you your so far away, but just to give you an idea of the cost of having a builder pull the trans build it and reinstall with fluid ready to drive. There is a Guy in NC that builds lots of allisons and if I'm not mistaken he charges around $3500.00 out the door. This includes a kit capable of holding 800+ HP and a 3 disc converter. I think you'll find most of the reputable builders all over the country can build you a stout trans for $4000.00 or less. And they do all the work!
I'd ask what kind of kit that is... That's a little less than the cost of a good kit alone, nevermind the build and install.

ok i was just looking at his site and for about 5,600 i can get everything from a lift pump,exhaust,efi live tuning and a trany kit... installed and ready to drive home......might be worth the trip.

it is wroth the trip. trust me. but if you want to call him do it after the 5th he took his wife on a cruise for their 1 yr
My main thing is I want to try to get a whole package deal as close to me as possible, but don't mind a little trip. I know cheep and good don't go together. Lol I know it cost to play as I have spent about 18,000 on 3 Harley enging builds in 2 years fixing other peoples screw ups. It is running now so I'm putting my money in the truck for awhile and I want to do it right the first time.

Yea had 2 builds go down the drain so now I'm on the 3rd at about 6,500 each within 2 years. 1 only lasted about 1,200 miles and blew up on me going 80mph at 9pm on the interstate. That was interesting. Lol.
Everyone says get the airdog11 lift pump. Is there a cheeper choice?

. And I was wrong, as mentioned in another post he charges around $4200.00 which is a very good deal. I have that much in my trans and that didn't cover r&r or fluid.
That's too cheap to be trust worthy work unless it a "friend" sort of deal , and not even close to being enough that they would be willing to do any warranty work god forbid there was ever a problem .

I think somewhere around $4000-4300 is a pretty fair deal to the customer and the builder. I usually get $4000 out the door, unless its a buddy.
Mike L, George, and a few others may charge more than the "average shop", but you will get above average service before/during/after the sale. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure FWIW.
Just got through reading Diesel Addictions website about there trans build. Whats the difference between his stage 3 & 4 kits? Is it the horsepower capabilities or the convertor in it? Thanks Tim
These builders put secret squirrells in their builds. That's why a build from a reputable builder is more coin but in my opinion worth every penny
