Ok since Im a loner here Ill post in here. Feel free to move to wherever though ;)

Im blistering my insulators on my plugs. Second set in a year doing this. Ive been trying all damn day to find out how to reference a cooler plug to no avail. I talked to AC Delco and they said they have no heat range in their plugs. Whatever. So I really dont even know where to start as Jegs tried searching for me and called around with no answers either. I wonder if what the S/C guys are running would be a plug cooler? If so I could just ask one of them and be good.

Reason I want a cooler is to see if that is where Im getting some of my KR from pre detonation. Im also working on the IAT's too but would like to get this in check first.

I always ran Bosh and some time Ngks in my 8.1 but always stock replacement but dual tipped. Now been 12 years since playing with the car and the bottle think it was alway the lower the number on the plug the colder it was. I will see if I can find some old notes for the blower motor that I have waiting to go in my car.

that 41-932 is what is ran in mercruiser applications, it has superceded to 41-9xx can't remember and don't have any books at home. that should be a colder plug considering load engine is under in boat. i have been told to reduce gap from .045 or .060 to .035, as the gap opened up with the motorola 555 controller the engine i worked on would not go over 2500 rpm. your looking at about $20 each on plugs, unless you have parts guy you do good with.

Yea well talked to Mike L since hes an old schooler and eventually settled with the 41-993 as I saw some posts about it on RV forums. Looks as if the electrode is smaller than what Im running now hence a cooler plug according to Mike. I gap at .045". Stock is .60". Ill try em out tomorrow and see if its helping KR. These are the same plugs they ran in the gen III SBC Vortecs.

Trying to find a good dyno tuner around here so I can dial it in to make sure its not running too lean and that was the problem not the heat. We'll see. I know a little about EFI Live but not like most of you guys. Little more difficult on a gasser and I have ADD :D

Tim give me a call sometime man. If your up now ring me ;)

OK of course had to break a Goddamn wire in process but was a good excuse for some 8.5mm MSD's. Anyways I dont recommend using these plugs. Im not happy with em at all. I think I lost HP with them. Not knowing for sure as I didnt have it on rollers but I know my truck. So back to 983's and I guess Ill change em out more often like every six months. thats OK because they are under warranty.

Who knows a good dyno tuner around central Ohio? Im sick of wondering and personally am EFI Live retarded so its time to dial it in perfect. Think maybe I could be running on lean side and that would cause the blistering too.

I smelled raw fuel on even number bank plugs but that was after I started it for minute or so and shut it off and pulled plug. Not sure what that means if anything.

Somebody else get an 8.1 so I dont have to test everything out :baby:
