Hey guys i think i have one of those wierd cooling system problems...I started smelling coolant coming through my a/c about 2 weeks ago, didnt really think anything of it b/c i replaced the busted heater core fittting on the firewall..just thought some maybe driped on the fins of the core when the fittin went or somthing??? Now just once in a while ill look down and it will be running hot, steam/coolant will blow out the coolant tank overflow hose and it cools right back down. Replaced the thermostats just cause its easy...no luck. If i pressurize the system it will slowly leak down but no external leaks. None in the oil or trans and it seems to heat up a little when i get on it. The upper rad hose will feel like its about to explode even if you start it cold......Any clue thanks for the help sorry so long

Sounds like a head gasket to me , the hard radiator hose and blowing coolant out the over flow is either a injector cup or head gasket .

same thing happened to me the black residue in the tank and bubbles when running.just finished the head gaskets i think the original problem was that my rad plugged up so it overheated:( mine was losing coolant and as soon as it started to warm up the temp just shot right up.
