So should i just go with the suncoast upgrade? I'm a serious newbie at all this. Really haven't done a lot of upgrades on the truck. Just the Edge, but i want to get rid of that for the EFI. I've had the truck for 4 years and it's almost paid off..... Time to get a loan of a different type :thumb:

I agree it is not worth it, and hauling the 6 speeds don't typically get any better mileage than the 5s and when T/H is engaged 6th is locked out anyway. If you drive an empty truck 5000 miles a month then maybe but it would still take a while to pay for itself.

you can tune around having to engage T/H for towing heavy loads. i got much better mileage when my 6 sp was working.....havent been able to run it in a year and a half almost. I would say don't bother with it yet....but ask Mike L what he thinks. you could also swap to 3.42 gears

I have the conversion from Mike L, and the only real benefit is the 300+ lower RPM while traveling on the road. Less engine noise, and maybe a little bit better MPG. If you have oversize tires, your mileage may even go lower because the RPM will be out of the "Sweet Spot".

I don't know about a converted 6 speed but my truck shifts into 6th when in tow haul. Had to run to the store and just checked it out to be sure.

The 06+ 6sp do. But in the SC kit a new TCM is supplied, it is programmed to lock out 6th in t/h.
