I'm looking for information from guys running the Suncoast 1054 in their allison. Please give me some opinions on this converter along with the turbo combo. How's the stall, flash and coupling?

The 1054 is more or less made for twinned street trucks. I have one here waiting to go in a twinned lly . But before you order one, I would ask George about his custom offerings or Phil Taylor seeing as he offers a fantastic lifetime warranty

What is the stall speed on the 54?

Not sure of exact number, but the stall speed on the 1054 is lower than stock. I personally would not want to run it on any aftermarket turbo setup, or even any non VVT turbo for that matter.

I have a 1056 and that is plenty tight enough for me. My friend has a 1056 on his LB7 with a single 70mm turbo and was complaining that it was too tight, 1054 would only be tighter. He just changed his trans tuning though and likes it better, his tuner had originally given him defueled shifts with a built trans:confused:

Stall is supposed to be around 1800 I believe. When I had my Lbz with S472 I could hold it back til about 2400 and then it would walk the brakes. I liked the converter but it may not be for everyone.

The specs so it as a 2200 stall but the flash is suppose to loose like a 55. I have a 58 and it is fine with a single but I figured I could benefit from a looser converter with the triples. I will jeep the 58 and out into my other truck with a single 66 charger. When I spoke to David and his converter that he said is a Phil Taylor converter he didn't speak about any substantial warranty and I was asking specifically about all specs to make a good purchase the first time.

Defueling is still a good idea, built trans or not.

Phil was great to deal with!! Running his upgraded single... Works great, and he has a trade up program that's pretty nice if a triple is ever needed...

I have ran the 1054 with two different twin setups. With a small set of twins useing the stock charger the the converter ok. Spool up was a little slow. Seemed to work good everywhere else though. Also ran the converter with a 366 480 set of twins and i hated it. Truck spooled terribly slow and felt like a sluggish pig. I since switched to a 1053 which is too loose, but is way better than the 1054.

The 1055 is a tough convertor to beat! I have run one in a stock motor truck and 60' a 1.53 and with a built motor run a 1.49. They work.

I loved my 55 with s475...the new owner of it loves it with his A5k compared to his 1057. I just need more rpm than they could offer with the nice driving characteristic

I have a 58good and have been happy with it from stock charger up to my 2.6 charger. Start in 3rd and stalls to 2300 and lunches good. But I need a tapshift to control when it goes into 4th.
