I just built an allison for a buddy in an 03, I drove it for a few days, with no issues. Gave it back to him, and he drove it home, pulled in his driveway and the converter stayed locked, and then he got a range shift inhibited message. I went and picked it up today, put it in gear, and you could feel it engage, but it wouldnt pull itself. Had set a P0742, cleared, and it did not reset. Got it home, put the tech2 back on it, engaged the tcc and then disengaged. Dropped in gear all good, went through rev and drive a few times, and then the converter locked again:confused: Data showed no apply So is it possible that I have a bad converter, or do I have a problem with the transgo valve? Oh yeah its a precision converter, full transgo, altos, cut pistons etc...

What year truck? If it's a LB7 your restritor bushing in the back of the Transgo valve fell out. Was the valve free with no drag when you installed it? Never seen a converter do this no matter what brand.

Its an 03, and yes the valve moved freely when installed, I am gonna pull it out tomorrow after work. I will post what I find then.

The bushing was still in the valve, and it moved freely in its bore, I double checked all the sealing rings no issues there, disassembled the valve body, no troubles there neither:confused: I am leanin towards a convertor.

When I built the trans in my lbz back in 08 my ml converter clutch was dragging. Checked everything. They built me another and had it in 2 days and they paid to ship the other back. New one worked perfectly. Mine would just try and push through the brakes to where you held the brakes down hard to get it stopped and then the truck would try to keep idle and start pushing lol. Either way if yours is good or bad they have awesome customer service and will take care of it. At that time I had George on the phone making me double check everything.

This truck is the same, but it does set a p0742, and range shift inhibited. Hope to have a converter monday.
