Mike, if I put a 1056 and trans go jr in my LMM, would it be good for a 60hp tow tune? Would my shifting be any different? I like the way this trans shifts and dont really want to change the way it feels.

Thanks,

Wolf

Yes.
Pat and I installed a Transgo and 1057 converter on Wendy and it failed on the dyno at a little over 500hp. Go for it.:thumb:

It still drives fine but no longer likes the power that much.:D Keep it under 500 and you should be good to go. I have 50 000 miles on mine now.

All I have ever had is a built (scV and sciv, same thing right?) 5sp and I noticed a difference in shifts at part throttle, was that because of the pump mods and increased clutch count of the SC kit?

If you're just running a 60 HP tune, do you really think it's worth the trouble of changing the converter? You wouldn't even be at 400 HP to the wheels with a tune that size.

Towing would be tough on the trans, as the converter is weaker than the 5sp.

I've had a tune on my dad's LMM, up to around 475 at the wheels, for about the last 60k miles. It has almost 100k on it now, and the trans is totally stock. He doesn't tow all the time, but it does see heavy trailer towing duties on occasion.

I'm not a trans builder or a transmission student. But... I think it would be ok with that small of a tune. I ran a big EFI tune on my stocker for 50K+ with no problems.

It's how you drive it.

Thats just it, with 60hp over I feel I can drive it like I would if it was still a stock tune. Does that make sense? Ya know not be scared to drop the hammer while towing if I have too. I'm just kicking around the idea, not sure I want to mess with this one:eek::rofl:

Do the trans-go, see what you think.

My purple junkstar will be for sale in May if you want a good converter that is just a little rattley in park/neutral!:D

I also still have my stocker. 10 000km on it. It survived that long at least. This trucks been tuned since the first week I had it!!:happy2:

If you think a 60 HP tune and towing is alot, the guy that owned my truck before me would haul all of his tools (oil field mechanical guy/ pipe fitter), tow a holiday trailer and he collected rocks and had a hypertech on 90 HP the whole time. i got the truck at 263 xxx KM and it still held the abuse until 300 xxxkm then i rebuilt it. Clutches werent burnt or anything.

Towing does not hurt the Alli one bit. Hammering the throttle while towing with a tune will.
