I have a running 05 lly 4wd rolling chassis complete with engine all electronics, etc., that I bought to build up a second high performance block. The tranny in this chassis is manual engagement (on the floor), not the electronic shift on the fly. I have an oppurtunity to buy an pretty nice 05 lly that is 2 wheel drive with only 85k on it for a REALLY cheap price.
Aside from the suspension details (question for another forum), would it be possible to switch out the transmission and transfer case, etc. and cut in the manual engagement into the floor to convert the 2wd to a 4wd?
What about the ECM and TCM? Can it be re-programmed with EFI to work properly? Is the whole Idea too much hassle? I was just thinking it would be a cheap way to get my son in law into a 4wd truck with out a lot of money and a little elbow grease.
