Considering transmission swap.

So I know it's my second post fairly soon after joining but y'all were so helpful I figured I ask another fun question. Now I got my boost issue fixed in looking to start building the motor. I know that for any applications over 500rwhp it's recommended to upgrade the trans. So my question is this, I'm a huge fan of manuals, can't stand auto (Allison is probably my only exception) so basically does anyone have any info on what the zf-6 can handle as far as rwhp, and is it worth doing the swap? What all would be included as far as changing the ECM, would I need the ECM from a manual or can I change that via efi live? Lastly anyone know any good transmission guys I Alaska? Sorry about the long post.

How much did the swap run you? If you don't mind me asking. Also how much would you be looking for, for the trans and clutch?

I think I had about $3500 in the swap. But I sold my Allison and recoupd some cost. I'd let trans, clutch, master and slave go for $2500 plus the ride. Pedal and shifter boots were damaged in the fire.

That's pretty reasonable for the parts I'll have to look at money first though. So basically I'll have to find a clutch pedal assembly and the floor shifter, or is the shifter still in good or workable condition? Also did you have to do anything computer wise with the swap?

The shifter is still useable. It would clean up. I have the ecm still if interested but all you'd have to do is flash yours as a manual with efi. I can email the base file I used if you decide to do it. There is some wiring involved to make the swap appear factory and get cruise control functioning. You'd have to wire in a clutch switch and pin some wires to the ecm.

I don't have cc so that's not a worry. Got the base model. Thanks for the help. I'll definitely let you know soon about the tranny. Were you able to reuse the Allison crossmember and mounting hardware? Didn't dig far enough into your thread to find the answer.

Mounting hardware yes. Crossmember has to be modified to fit correctly. There's pics in that thread. One of the last posts
