Help: Computer Illiterate

I cant seem to figure this crap out . I bought a new digital camcorder . took video of the races in NY this past sat . and now after finalizing the dvd disc I cant seem to get them on my computer . when I put the disc in the drive there are alot of random files and if I drag them to desktop and then click on them windows says they cant recognize them . I have used the install cd that came with the cam but I do a search for anything samsung and come up with nothing . I also tried using the cord with usb and it doesn't do anything . look up under" my computer" and don't see anything other than c drive , recovery drive and e drive ( cd & dvd drive ) am I doing something wrong here???????
if I put the dvd in the drive and windows player shows the video but that's it .
any help would be great .

Did they give you any software to convert the video?

only thing on the cd was some Dv driver that I installed . then quick time , video Codec and direct x 9.0 . I installed everything on the cd but cant even find them when i do a search , this was after i rebooted to make sure install went ok . at this point I have no clue . unfortunately the help center is closed till tomorrow , maybe ill try and call them in the am
