Compressor vs. Turbine size

I have been doing research on turbos as I am looking to upgrade and have a question for the gurus. I am looking for an explanation on how the compressor vs. turbine size changes the performance of the turbo and how the 2 effect each other. For example, assuming same truck, supporting mods, fueling, etc. What would the difference in power and spool time be on a 65/87 vs. a 67/83? What would the benefit be in running a smaller compressor with bigger turbine vs. a bigger compressor with smaller turbine?

I've been curious bout this as well.. I shoulda asked a little more before I got mine, because it's a 83..

For a single s400 series yes the 87 is the turbine to go with in a street or high performance truck. If you ran a lot if nitrous is a race only or sled pullers then maybe you would use a 96 turbine.

The 83 turbine is almost the same turbine you would have in a s300 74 turbine. Each sears rate the wheel size opposite. With the 300 series using the ex duces for wheel size and the 400 using the inducer for wheel size.

What is the reason behind that? And is that only for the turbine or both turbine and compressor?

On a s400 turbo you have several turbines available. The 87 turbine is the overall best for most people using the s400 chargers. Application is the most important thing going to consider when trying to size your turbos.
